HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE THE AMBIANCE?
It’s not a song you will fall asleep listening to - I’ll say that much. Overall, it’s a very epic sound, perhaps the most epic I’ve done to-date; which is saying a lot when you consider Keep Running, It Will Kick In, and A Frame of Mind. Overall, I view this song in terms of pure energy, adrenaline, high octane, and overpowering.
WHAT WAS YOUR INSPIRATION?
The Last Time is a major accomplishment for me, regardless if it is ever commercially successful. When I determined that creating music was a path in life I was going to take, the thought of making something like this was an expectation, even though I had no idea what it would sound like, but I was going to make this song at some point in life. I don’t hide the fact my biggest inspiration is Moby, and I can only hope my music will resonate in others the way his music does in me. That said, I don’t set out to imitate his style, but this song is totally a Moby song if I ever heard one. It’s an epic Theme Song for a motion picture… like Extreme Ways… Jason Borne.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE PART?
(laughs). I’m glad this is a predetermined question, and not one out of true curiosity. But to speak to “that part”, all I can say is it was highly unintentional and unexpected. It was a Saturday morning, and I was messing around with synth settings and I hit the D# note and I was like, “oh man, um, this is going to go down.” I wrote the chorus, if you will, in about 5 minutes. It literally wrote itself to be fair.
CAN WE EXPECT TO SEE THIS SONG ON THE NEXT ALBUM, VisionThis?
Well the new Album “album”, VisionThis was already in motion when I wrote this, and that album will be nothing like Sight Sounds. This song doesn’t really fit that whole vibe; which is totally New Wave and some type of Rock - I suck at genre identity to be honest. I am working on another album: Sight Sounds The B-Sides, and it may end up there, or on some future project, but not VisionThis.
