How would you describe the ambiance?
"Perhaps one of the more emotional songs I've written. It is an intense combination of haunting, sad and yet uplifting sounds. Some call it: Beautiful. It's a very Sad Beautiful, I guess."
What was your inspiration?
"I always have lyrics in my head, or sometimes just phrases that repeat over and over in my head. The phrase that really got the ball rolling on this song was 'Breathing the Breeze... Like'. Just like the artist name, Sound Said Look, or the lyrics for a Circular Journey, I am playing with words and themes. My first instinct isn't to sing on every song I compose, but it had been a long time since a song presented the opportunity, so I guess that might count as inspiration too."
What is the meaning?
"My son hates when the sun gets in his eyes, probably more so than most kids. If there are no places to get under, he will retreat into my shadow, which I find to be very ironic: he's a reflection of me, standing in my shadow, much like how the clouds are to the sun. I think with that in mind, the song should begin to make sense quickly. It's also worth nothing that my son's name is Grayson."
Do you have a favorite part?
"I really like all of it, but around the 1:00 mark the bass kicks in, and it really grabs me inside. It's a very welcomed sound that is absent up until then. For me, that's when the song really takes shape."
Can we expect to see this song on the next album?
"Yes, but I'm not sure if it will be this version of it."
